Federal Prison – Relationships with an Inmate.
I was sent an email regarding how and what to expect of a relationship once a loved one returns home. This is no easy question. This all depends on what type of relationship you have. Healthy or unhealthy. Is it constant fighting or is there good communication and trust. How was your relationship prior to prison?
This question can be asked to both the person doing the time as well as the spouse that is willing to go along for the ride.
My rules are:
1- Don’t be a punching bag for an angry jealous inmate.
2- Don’t keep issues and problems from the inmate thinking they have enough stress. This creates a false world.
3- How much work are you both doing to make a life after work?
4- Be honest and direct with what you want from a relationship.
If you feel it’s not right then move on..
