Every Week we send out a poetry Challenge to a small group of prisoners. Using their Corrlinks account they receive the challenge and send back their interpretation.
The challenges are designed to encourage creativity using different poetry formulas and Idea’s.
To participate please join us and enter your poetic entry.
We encourage communication between members and poets, if you’d like to contact a prisoner please ask us to send them your email and they can send you an activation code direct.
Unjustly held captive
I have unlimited potential
Which will potentially thrust me
To the pinnacle of perpetual greatness
Superior to the inferior thoughts
Of those inferior thinkers whom defined
My superior stature as inferior
The mechanical mental mechanism
I watch the passage of the sands of time
As the gold and red combine on fire in the falling sunset
Yesterday I was content
Alas my dreams now scatter unto dust
I cling in desperation try to keep hold of the burnt out ashes
When the time comes
As the last grain falls through the hourglass
I am resigned to my demise
For I shall see her…
everything to a person who never known love
of a good woman but we understand
nature because we do anything to impress
another person because it’s human nature
rarely do we take notice of what we are
Hi everyone! I decided to write for two more of the prompts, for the Poetry Club challenge, the triolet and the ten word challenge, using free(open)verse style. Hope you like them.:) the first is triplet.

Hi everyone! I hope everything is going well with you all. I am doing well and excited about this journey I am making with Incarcerate US. Not only am I learning different styles of poetry, bit it is making my voice better in my regular, free verse style. Standing before you,
like a shadow
when the sun is at your back
is this person who
a drill sergeant of sorts
barking out orders
for verbs and adjectives,
letting them do anything but
float adrift on a sea of laughter
and uncontrolled temperament.
His directives spoken
in similes of the sublime
Stretching across…[Read more]
Here are two acrostic poems…
Modern marvel she
Emits sparks of
Regal colors which
Enticing bliss and beauty while
Daring to extend love like
Eternities which simply
Shower the world with kindness!
Madam sparkle but who
Instantly uplifts souls and…[Read more]
I forgot to respond to this and didn’t want you to think
I took what you said for granted. Thank you for your
Thoughts on my Sestina entry, it was the first time I’d
Ever tackled such a form, being honest I’ve mostly avoided
Such forms as I thought them too challenging… I realize
I’ve been lazy and gotten comfortable with a free verse…[Read more]
Here are my challenges, I really enjoy the challenge of these challenges and
I find myself trying something new each time as all these forms are unexplored. Normally I write free verse… I chose the Acrostic, the Nonet and the 10 word challenges. For the 10 word challenge I picked haiku but since the 10 words equal 20 syllables it’s a…[Read more]
Grandma , there’s a monster , under my bed . No dear child , it’s all in your head . She made it all better with a hug , ‘cuz that’s just what, grandma does . Momma , the girl of my dreams, broke my heart . I was head over heels ,from the start . She made it all better with a hug , ‘cuz that’s just what , momma does. She…[Read more]
There once was a fly , who wanted to buy , three apple pies , but the clerk said no , because the pies were froze , and they were to big for a fly to buy . This one was tricky for me but I enjoyed it!
I also really liked the poem you wrote as a sample,
You said it’s no Dylan Thomas but Dylan Thomas was
No “Dylan Thomas” until he was given a chance to be “heard”…
Here is my attempt at a Villanelle:
It begins with hope, or maybe a dream…
This is why the stars shine for us,
The most…[Read more]
Broken by Fire
By Marshall Jones
The fire has refined me into pure gold
I see nothing close to pain from my past
I used to be broken, but love has washed over.
Walked the earth hidden, scarred from nightmares sold,
shadows cast as darkness has made me crass.
The fire has refined me into pure gold.
Remnants of a life trashed by mold,
I kept…[Read more]
In a rush to love, yet waiting to die. Bury my passion right in front of my eyes
In a rush to love, yet waiting to die
Murder me sweet, satisfaction denied
Bury my passion, right in front of my eyes
Orgasmic expressions, suppressed and in vain
Intense longing, being forced to hide
In a rush to love, yet waiting to die
Mental images,…[Read more]
