    Here are two acrostic poems…

    MERCEDES

    Modern marvel she
    Emits sparks of
    Regal colors which
    Calm heartache,
    Enticing bliss and beauty while
    Daring to extend love like
    Eternities which simply
    Shower the world with kindness!

    Instantly uplifts souls and…[Read more]

    Diane,
I forgot to respond to this and didn’t want you to think
I took what you said for granted. Thank you for your
Thoughts on my Sestina entry, it was the first time I’d
Ever tackled such a form, being honest I’ve mostly avoided
Such forms as I thought them too challenging… I realize
I’ve been lazy and gotten comfortable with a free verse…[Read more]

    Diane,
Here are my challenges, I really enjoy the challenge of these challenges and
I find myself trying something new each time as all these forms are unexplored. Normally I write free verse… I chose the Acrostic, the Nonet and the 10 word challenges. For the 10 word challenge I picked haiku but since the 10 words equal 20 syllables it’s a…[Read more]

Grandma , there’s a monster , under my bed . No dear child , it’s all in your head . She made it all better with a hug , ‘cuz that’s just what, grandma does . Momma , the girl of my dreams, broke my heart . I was head over heels ,from the start . She made it all better with a hug , ‘cuz that’s just what , momma does. She…[Read more]

There once was a fly , who wanted to buy , three apple pies , but the clerk said no , because the pies were froze , and they were to big for a fly to buy . So she went home to her mate , who was waiting at the gate , and he said goodbye , I’m going to spy , on the guy , who wouldn’t sell you , three apple pies.…[Read more]

This one was tricky for me but I enjoyed it!
I also really liked the poem you wrote as a sample,
You said it’s no Dylan Thomas but Dylan Thomas was
No “Dylan Thomas” until he was given a chance to be “heard”…
Here is my attempt at a Villanelle:

    “Freedom”
It begins with hope, or maybe a dream…
This is why the stars shine for us,
    The most…[Read more]

    Broken by Fire
    By Marshall Jones

The fire has refined me into pure gold
I see nothing close to pain from my past
I used to be broken, but love has washed over.

Walked the earth hidden, scarred from nightmares sold,
shadows cast as darkness has made me crass.
The fire has refined me into pure gold.

Remnants of a life trashed by mold,
    I kept…[Read more]

In a rush to love, yet waiting to die. Bury my passion right in front of my eyes

In a rush to love, yet waiting to die
    Murder me sweet, satisfaction denied
Bury my passion, right in front of my eyes
Orgasmic expressions, suppressed and in vain
Intense longing, being forced to hide
In a rush to love, yet waiting to die
    Mental images,…[Read more]

This challenge was very difficult, but I enjoyed it even more than I have any other one. It pulled my brain in so many directions! I hope you like what I brought to the table.

    Forgiveness
    By Marshall Jones

I ran fervently until the day I was caught
The rapture of heartache from the lack of touch
Such a formidable for, the chance occasion we…[Read more]

I struggled with the fill in the blank poem, I am forever reminded ___________. Part of the difficulty comes from the construction of the partial sentence–it has a passive feel. I much prefer action sentences, though, in the context of the poem in which I used the prompt phrase, I don’t know how I might consider revising it.

    The forty word…[Read more]

I am forever reminded that life is okay, even on the darkest of days. Like the sun hidden by temporary clouds, “this too will pass” I say out loud. I’ve found in life, that the key for me, is to keep my serenity, no matter what may be. I am forever reminded that life is okay, each and every time, I kneel down and pray.

” I am forever reminded of love and happiness ”
    Now the 40 word challenge
    The Dream
As I lay with my eyes close all I see is darkness
Until I see her the lady of my dreams
She tells me everything is okay
Then she starts to sing love and happiness
    What a wonderful dream

Here’s my poems for the club:

I am Forever Reminded of Trust Broken
    By Marshall Jones

I am forever reminded of trust broken…….
Began when I was 4, before my innocence was stolen,
a couple of years into a life marred by poor choices.
Avoiding confrontation like it was poisonous,
    caused by venomous words spoken,
    my father floating between…[Read more]

I am intelligent I am blessed

I wonder what the world would be like if
people love more and hated less

    I hear my grandmother’s voice

    I see her smile

I want to rise above my circumstance

I am intelligent I am blessed

    I pretend to be free

I feel a gentle hand guiding me

    I touch freedom

I long for her gentle touch
    the touch of her breath
    her breath on my skin
