This is a article I publish in the Marlboro . Thursday, February 28, 2013.

As I sat and think about this very serious “EPIDEMIC’ our great country faces with this out of control youth violence, and these killings, I am disturbed.
We need a solution. My solution to this madness is to utilize the communities own assets to get these streets back in order ourselves.
When I say utilize the communities, I mean that is’s going to take faces that are respected in these communities. It’s going to take persons who speak these youths language, who come from these same streets.
The people I’m talking about are professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, police officers, funeral home .

These people come from these same communities that this madness arises from, and they possess the strongest voices.

Trust me, our youth will listen to them and respect them because they speak our youths language. i used to be a “street’ youth and I know how “street” youths think.

We need town hall meetings and workshops, our professional community members have to be at the forefront sponsoring them, as well as providing an alternative. These youths need something to fall back on.

A lot of them want out of that negative life anyway, but don’t have anything else to turn to. Once these youths see that we really care, they will start caring about themselves. And when you start caring about yourself, you will start loving yourself! The sky is the limit after that how much of it do you want? because dreams do come true. It’s going to take a lot of hard work and dedication. It can be done.

I’m asking for our professional community to help me to please help me save our communities. This is the start of a new beginning. It’s time for us to step up to the plate.
