Prisoner Deaths in MDOC

The Mississippi Department of Corrections is investigating five unrelated inmate deaths. In each case, the cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy. None of the deaths are related to an unsubstantiated report of an inmate suffering fatal burns at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution (SMCI) in Leakesville. The following inmates at SMCI have died: * Jack Glisson, 70, Sunday, Aug. 5. Glisson (#30678) was sentenced to life on Sept. 27, 1977, for murder in Jones County. * Willie Hollinghead, 36, on Saturday, Aug. 4. Hollinghead (#168824) was sentenced to 10 years on Dec. 4, 2017, for sale of cocaine in Wayne County. * Albert McGee, 57, on Thursday, Aug. 2. McGee (#10330) was sentenced to life on Aug. 2, 1990, for murder, and two years on Oct. 15, 1990, for possession of controlled substance, both in Jackson County. Also, Robert Joseph, at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County and Charles R. McCullough at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, have died. Joseph, 38, (#216431) died Sunday, Aug. 5. He was sentenced to three years on April 26, 2018, for possession of a controlled substance in Harrison County. McCullough, 66, (#87788) died Saturday, Aug. 4. He was sentenced on March 30, 2011, to 10 years for unoccupied burglary-larceny in Amite County and to 10 years on May 9, 2016, for aggravated assault in Pike County
